Reading Resolutions Revisited: December 2016

Welcome back to another installment of my new Monthly Reading Resolutions updates. I decided I wouldn’t participate in many official challenges this year; instead I created some Reading Resolutions. This post is my attempt to keep track of how I’m getting on with reading and blogging.

I just completed my Goodreads challenge for the year, so I thought now would be a good time to post my final check-in of 2016.  Here’s what happened…

The R.I.P XI readathon is ongoing through September and October, so I’m taking part in that. Along with Bout of Books this is another of my favourites. I love the theme of it, and that it coincides with my favourite time of year too. There’s still time to join in if you haven’t already.

I participated in the latest Bout of Books readathon last week, so I feel as if I’ve read quite a lot this month. I managed to finish 3 books, which is quite good. I think I picked a few shorter reads this month than I have recently. I can’t seem to help choosing really long books! Anyway, here’s the latest…

Am wondering whether End of Watch counts as well? There were definitely some fantasy-like elements involved even though it wasn’t all out fantasy. Hm.
No, I think I’ll just count Harry Potter, so my new total is now 7 books read.

So far I’ve read 18 books so far this year, and my target is 25 books.

I participated in Bout of Books.

Am still trying to keep up with writing reviews quite soon after completing the book.

Another pretty slow month, although I have blogged more this time than in recent months, so that’s quite good. I’ve also been reading a lot more lately, but haven’t actually finished some of the books so can’t count them towards my total this month.

FLIGHTS OF FANTASY

I set myself a target of 25 books for this year. I’ve currently read 6 books.

GOALS

I finally got around to starting one of the new posts I’d hoped to write on the blog, Beyond the Books. I enjoyed writing about non-bookish things for a change, so it will probably become a once in a while feature here. Never fear, I’m still 99% bookish content.

I’ve also managed to maintain my goal of posting about a book almost as soon as I’ve finished reading it. I do still have a backlog of reviews, which I’ll definitely post sometime in the future.

As for my own books? Predictably they’re still languishing on the bookshelves completely untouched. I recently discovered the new library e-book system which is great, so the problem of neglecting my own books will probably continue. Shameful, isn’t it?!

Hopefully I’ll meet more of my goals as the year progresses.
