Flights of Fantasy Reading Challenge 2015

The Flights of Fantasy reading challenge is hosted by Alexa Loves Books and Hello, Chelly. You can find out the full details and sign up at either of the links provided, but the basic idea is to set yourself a target number of Fantasy novels to read during 2015. As a recent fan of the Fantasy genre I was really excited to find this challenge and can’t wait to get started. I am going to set myself a target of 10 novels. Hopefully I will be able to read more than this. Below I’ve made myself a list of books I would like to try and read, mostly just to prompt my memory.

Potential Reads:

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas plus the rest of the series
The Infernal Devices/The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson Enchantress by James Maxwell
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (Cinder/Scarlet/Cress)
The Golem and the Djinni by Helene Wecker
The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
Deathless by Catherine M. Valente
Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

My Progress:

January

In January I managed to read two books towards my total:  Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and The Oversight by Charlie Fletcher.  I wasn’t sure whether Station Eleven could really be termed fantasy, but I had it in my Potential Reads list so thought I’d include it.

February

I read two new books towards my goal, making a total of 4 books so far.
This month I read Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo and A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray.

March

It’s been a good month for reading Fantasy.  I added another 4 books to my total, making 8 so far.

Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning
Half a King by Joe Abercrombie
Faefever by Karen Marie Moning
Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

April

Nothing new to add.  Grand total = 8

May

STILL no new progress to report.  My total books read remains at 8.

June

Some progress to report this month as I added 1 book to my total, which now stands at 9.

I added one more to my previous total by reading:

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

New total is now 10.

August

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

New total = 11 books.

September

The Falcon Throne by Karen Miller.

My new total = 12 books.

October

The Paradox by Charlie Fletcher

November

Nothing new to add, total is currently 13 books.

Oh, cool! I’m participating in this challenge as well. I really like your TBR – I’ve read some (and liked them a lot) and have others on my own TBR for 2015. I’ll keep an eye out for your reviews! 🙂

I’ve started reading more fantasy lately and really enjoy it, so this challenge seemed perfect. I’ll look out for your reviews too, and if you have any recommendations for good books to read please do let me know 🙂
